Your Matcha Guide
🟢What is Matcha?
Matcha is 100% shade-grown green tea leaves, stone-milled into an ultra-fine powder.
Unlike regular tea, you consume the whole leaf powder, giving it a richer flavour, brighter colour, and more natural nutrients.
🟢What brands do you carry?
We are an authorised reseller of Marukyu Koyamaen and other popular Japanese tea brands.
All our matcha is carefully selected from reputable producers across different regions of Japan.
Marukyu Koyamaen(丸久小山園):
Marukyu Koyamaen is a heritage tea house founded around 1704 in Uji, Kyoto, over 300 years of uninterrupted tradition.
From cultivation to stone-milling, they control every step to deliver top-quality Uji matcha and teas, and have earned wide recognition by supplying prestigious tea-ceremony schools and winning national tea awards.
🟢How to choose?
We group our teas into three simple categories to help you choose easily:
Premium Ceremonial Matcha, Everyday Matcha, and Hojicha.
🍵Premium Ceremonial Matcha
Ideal for Koicha, Usucha, straight drinking, or high-end matcha lattes.
Expect a smoother, sweeter flavour with minimal bitterness and a vivid green colour.
🍵Everyday Matcha
Perfect for daily Usucha, mixed drinks, smoothies, and desserts.
Balanced flavour and bright colour, versatile for both drinking and mixing.
🍵What is Hojicha?
Hojicha is roasted Japanese green tea, naturally low in caffeine with a warm, toasty aroma.
Hojicha Type A (Light Roast): Light brown colour, softer roasted notes, and a more pronounced tea aroma.
Hojicha Type B (Dark Roast): Deep brown colour, stronger roasted flavour, and a richer, more robust aroma.

🟢How do I prepare and enjoy matcha?
🍵For straight matcha
- Use 2g matcha with 100-120g hot water (70–80°C).
- Whisk until smooth and frothy.
- Adjust water for a stronger or lighter flavour.
🍵For a 400ml matcha latte
- Use 4–5g matcha + 200g water (70–80°C).
- Whisk or froth until fully blended.
- Pour into 200g milk (hot or cold).
- Adjust intensity to taste; add up to 5g sugar if desired.
🟢How should I store matcha?
Matcha is sensitive to heat, humidity, and light, which can quickly affect its colour and flavour.
We recommend refrigerating all matcha - before and after opening.
When using it, take the tin out, scoop the powder, and return it to the fridge immediately - the same way you treat milk.
